Why Hire a Pro?

Top reasons why you would want to hire a professional photographer:

  1. Focus—When professional photographers are on-the-job, they are focused on (no pun intended) recording the event and nothing else. They don’t have to entertain guests, fill the punch bowl, or answer the phone.
  2. Camera—Professional photographers use professional cameras and know how to use them. In fact, they will bring more than one in case something happens to their primary camera.
  3. Lenses—Professional cameras typically use interchangeable lenses. A professional photographer will bring the correct lenses for the job, and with these lenses, the professional can create photos that cannot be matched by a point-and-shoot camera.
  4. Lighting—Correct lighting can be difficult … especially if an event is held indoors. A professional uses an assortment of lighting tools such as electronic flashes, reflectors, umbrellas, and soft boxes. The on-camera, built-in flash is rarely used by a professional because of its harsh, unflattering light.
  5. Software—After a digital picture has been captured, a professional knows how to use software to enhance or correct a photo if necessary.
  6. Prints—If you order prints, a professional photographer will know which company produces the best ones. The local drug store is probably is not the best choice for your valuable prints.
  7. Experience—Sometimes subjects don’t cooperate and a professional will know some tricks to coax a smile out of a cranky child or curmudgeonly adult. Professionals also know how to pose clients to create pleasing photographs.
  8. Location—A professional photographer is familiar with the best locations for photo shoots and may even be able to get you a discount at a particular venue.
  9. Education—Professional photographers continually improve their craft by attending training sessions, classes, and seminars.

Even if you have a great new camera, it may still make sense for you to hire a professional photographer to record the important events in your life.  If you don’t need someone with reliable gear, don’t care about professional printing, or you’d be okay with important photos “not turning out”, then perhaps you don’t need a pro. If those things are important, let’s work together.
